Digital Credentials

For additional ways to cut down on physical waste with printed PVC cards, you may consider issuing your staff or visitors digital credentials. These zero waste ID cards can be produced with most ID production programs or visitor management software.

Depending on your application, you can create completely customizable ID card design, then print to a PDF or JPG image, and email to your employee. This can be viewed directly on a mobile phone by a security guard or scanned with a barcode or QR code scanner. By scanning the badge from your mobile device, you can verify your employees or members identity and access permissions. Here are the most common versions used by customers interested in eco friendly ID card printing l

  •  HID Asure ID 7 Solo: Most popular for smaller applications, includes built in database with up to 200 active employee records
  • HID Asure ID 7 Express:  Best value for any application with a single location for ID badge issuance, unlimited card design features, manage 1000+ records
  • HID® Asure ID 7 Enterprise:  Leverage multiple licenses with concurrent access by operators that integrate with each other across campuses
  • HID Asure ID 7 Exchange: In addition to multiple licenses and locations with live access to shared database, communicate with smart card encoders to read/write information directly onto your RFID badges

Going digital is an efficient step in mitigating waste, and can streamline convenience for your ID verification processes.

Paper Credentials

Paper badges are a popular option at conferences, meetings and other events where oversized badges are often printed onsite and the host companies want to emphasize minimal impact on the environment. In these applications, customers print directly onto high density CR80 size card stock or larger 3.5″ x 5.5″ sized paper card stock for event credentials. Using a high speed ink jet card printer, organizations can issue a full color ID badge in as little as 2 seconds!

For applications issuing visitor badges, paper is a common option in the form of an adhesive backed sticker that expires at the end of the day. Temporary badges are a great option when a durable hard plastic PVC card is not needed. Expiring badges are typically 2″ x 3″ in size which is slightly smaller than a credit card with options for different colored badges in addition to a variety of expiring times.

The process for expiration starts when the front is applied on top of the back part and the chemical process begins. In most cases, customers print on expiring badges with a label printer but you can also just write on them with a sharpie. There are lots of options for temporary expiring badges using paper which can be purchased online. All paper credentials are compostable and biodegrade like any other paper products.

We hope your organization will give some thought to identifying environmentally harmful products and researching more earth-friendly options to make Earth a better place for everyone!
