Discontinuation of Field Upgradable Smart Card Encoder Kits for FARGO Printers
IDSuperShop supports a large variety of applications that use smart cards for security ID badging. The HID FARGO DTCe and HDP card printers containing OMNIKEY 5121, 5121D and 5121/5125D encoders & field upgrade kits have been discontinued.
To continue supporting our customers with complex applications, we have transitioned to offering the HID OMNIKEY 5122 encoder option as a migration path from the 5121 and will continue to offer the HID OMNIKEY 5125 as a standalone offering for reading HID Prox® credentials when running through an ID badge printer.
HID card printer models that include 5121, 5121D and 5121/5125D encoders have been affected by this discontinuation, including DTC120e, DTC1250e, DTC4250e, DTC4500e, DTC1500, DTC5500LMX and HDP5000. The following field upgrade kits for smart card encoding will also be affected: 047704, 047705, 047714, 047715, 047716, 089203, 089202, 089204, 089053, 089033 and 089060. All items with the OMNIKEY 5121 encoder are no longer available as new from the factory, however limited quantities may be available from the tech department which were used for testing.
We are committed to providing a migration path to support our customers following the discontinuation of the HID 5121/5121D encoder. HID OMNIKEY 5122 field upgrade kits for the HID FARGO DTCe and HDP card printers are now available as a replacement to 5121 and 5121D. The HID OMNIKEY 5122 encoder is fully compatible with ISO 7816 (contact chip), ISO 14443 A/B (contactless) and iCLASS® ISO 15693 credentials.

HID OMNIKEY 5127CK Mini Field upgrade kit will also now be available for the DTCe and HDP5000 card printers. This encoder option is recommended for use with next generation HID technology cards like iCLASS Seos® and MIFARE® DESFire® EV3 cards.
