Technical Updates for Secure Issuance and ID Card Printer Support

Asure ID Software Version 7.9 – New Release

For nearly two decades, Asure ID has been one of the most popular ID card software programs used by customers. The latest version of HID Asure ID card personalization software (7.9) is now available, with significant updates:

• Database migration – Native database has changed from Access to SQL.

• Printer compatibility – Added support for the HDP5000e.

• Security changes – Off-line phone activation is no longer available.

• Mandatory admin password change – During installation, you will be required to change the default “admin” password. If the new password is lost, Asure ID must be reinstalled, and all data/templates will be lost.

• File export changes – All exported files (including card design templates) are no longer compatible with older versions. Be sure to re-export templates immediately after upgrade.

• Encoding updates – Certain encoders (5122 or 5127CKmini) were not included in iDirector functionality due to SSDL hardening and SE Encoding security improvements.

• Backup required – Prior to upgrading, perform a full backup of your Asure ID native database.

⚠️ Note on Antivirus False Positives: Some antivirus programs are incorrectly flagging the HDP5000e driver as malicious. HID confirms the file is safe. If you encounter this, please reach out to HID Technical Support.

  • Separate front and back side Transfer TOF.

  • Added support for Blush Point.

HDP5000 Legacy – New Firmware

• Version: 5.8.16

• Release Date: 2025-JUL-31

New FARGO Printer Ribbons Launched

HID is also introducing new ribbons for the FARGO DTC1250e, DTC1500, and DTC4500e ID card printers. These updated consumables offer clear benefits for organizations focused on image quality, efficiency, and sustainability:

• Improved dye formulation – Brighter whites, deeper blacks, and a more vivid color profile for enhanced photo realism and crisp text.

• Higher capacity – New high-yield ribbons simplify workflows and reduce downtime by requiring fewer ribbon changes.

• More sustainable – Featuring smaller ribbon cores and eco-friendly packaging (coming soon), these supplies reduce waste and support green initiatives.

Available ribbon types include YMCKO, YMCKO Half, and YMCKOK, making it easier to choose the right solution for your printing needs.
